Utility Bicycle Works
We're a small bike shop in NY state that just tried your tape for the first time and are super impressed. Everything from the hand dying, to the extra width and color options have us eager to get a bunch in store. Awesome options for customer expression!
Most cloth tapes (all of them, actually, except Green Grips) use a wide, super tacky adhesive on the back of the tape. The Green Grips adhesive is narrow, less tacky, and easier to get a perfect wrap with. The tape is softer and more flexible too, also making wrapping easier.
Gravel & Grind
Cloth bar tape has always been different: it lasts longer, looks nicer, feels better and in the case of Green Grips cloth tape, it wraps better.
Tama Go Bicycle
I've liked the Japanese Viva tape, which is thicker (but not much wider)... we do a lot of road bike restorations, and always use cloth tape for those. Newbaums is nice, but they don't have the color range that you do, so we'll def be switching. I'll have it sorted shortly and place as big as order as I can justify here, in the middle of winter!
The Heavyweight tape looks & feels great! I had forgotten how nice “real” bar tape feels. The Bar Plugs are that perfect vintage finishing detail. All is once again right & in balance & as it should be with the world; thanks to you.

It’s not uncommon to hear about products being created these days due to someone’s creativity around a health issue, an injury, or just a hole in the market. Such is the case with Kelley McDonell at Green Grips. After experiencing irritation from standard rubber bike grips, Kelley began searching for a solution only to find that there wasn’t much on the market. What transpired was the creation of a 100% eco-friendly cotton bar tape that is biodegradable and made with non-toxic dyed colors.
